LASS 820 - Individual & Society Examines the concepts of “individual” and “society” and how they are related under modern social conditions. It treats society and social institutions as fundamental realities and considers the ways in which social forces affect individual personality and identity. It provides an introduction to the perspective of sociology as distinct from that of psychology. Topics include socialization. social solidarity, morality, authority, deviance, individualism, and freedom. Formerly HU 162
