CRGL 225 - Glass: Form, Function & Beauty


This class is an exploration of classic glass techniques, drawing on historic uses of glass and the evolution of shapes and functions common today. Emphasis will be on the mastery of hand-working skills required to create sound functional glasswork. Students will be guided in developing the eye-hand coordination and close hot-shop teamwork necessary to produce glasswork based on the historic precedent. Topics covered in this class will include; producing basic utilization glassware, analyzing functional demands in and out of the hot shop, planning and operating a glass production team and creating glass objects for the marketplace.

Prerequisites & Notes
Priority enrollment for Crafts and Multidisciplinary Fine Arts majors.

Credits: 3 cr, 6 hrs
