DAPF 143 - Spanish Dance1 credit This beginning-level course provides an introduction to the elements of Spanish dance. Students learn how to use castanets, plus the arm and footwork, turns, and rhythmic hand-clapping characteristics of flamenco. Through classroom exercises and videotapes, students explore several types of Spanish folk dance, classical dance, and contemporary choreographic styles, and learn a number of short dances, including at least one verse of the popular “”Sevillanas.”“
