Description

This four-year program is designed primarily for students who wish to take the entire musical portion of the undergraduate degree curriculum without liberal arts courses. Students wishing to transfer from this program to the bachelor’s degree program may apply to do so in any year of their matriculation. They will be required to obtain the approval of both the Director of the School of Music and the Dean of Liberal Arts. The Diploma program is ideal for students who have already earned a degree in a field other than music but who want the benefit of a complete undergraduate training and education in music.

Areas of Concentration: Bass (Electric and/or Upright), Cello, Clarinet, Drums, Flute, Guitar, Hand Drums, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Vibes, Violin, Voice, Woodwinds

CPA College Core (9 credits)


All CPA students are required to complete CPA Core Studies coursework.  Refer to the CPA Core Studies page  for additional information.

Required Courses (6 credits)


CPAC 100 & 200 level courses must be taken in the freshman & sophomore year.  CPAC 300 & 400 level courses must be taken in the junior & senior year.

Electives (3 credits)


  • Select 3 credits: from the College of Art, Media & Design or the College of Performing Arts, excluding courses offered by the student’s designated school.

Electives (31 credits)


  • Complete 31 credits of free electives. This requirement is satisfied by any undergraduate course that isn’t required by the program.
