Program Total Credits: 123
The mission of the Sculpture program is to provide the student with a sound, balanced exposure to all aspects of sculpture as it exists in today’s expanded field, in preparation for the students’ continued professional growth beyond the undergraduate years. To that end, the student will be given assignments designed to enable them to develop conceptual skills and become proficient in a variety of processes and techniques. They will participate in seminars and critiques to develop critical thinking and to improve language skills and in conjunction with the Liberal Arts Department, will study the history of the discipline.
Graduates of the Sculpture program will:
- Become proficient in a number of processes and techniques that can be used to make a sculptural statement:
- Develop a personal work strategy that will enable them to translate creative ideas into a visual work of art:
- Develop a level of critical thinking that will allow them to understand and discuss their work (and that of others) in both practical and philosophical terms:
- Have knowledge of the history of their discipline and an understanding of how their own work relates to that history. (This will be done in conjunction with the Liberal Arts Department).
