LACR 221 - SIFT: Brainstorming

In this module, students receive some basic instruction on the brain’s natural timekeepers and how they produce changes daily, monthly, seasonally, or throughout the life cycle. Examples include daily or circadian rhythms (sleep-wake and alertness cycles), longer-range or infradian rhythms (ovarian cycles, menstrual synchrony, pheromonal entrainmanet, and reproductive supression), seasonal cycles (hibernation/estivation, SAD), and developmental milestones (puberty, menopause). Student will explore excerpts from the literature and learn how to frame questions that can be explored empirically in the course of a short-term (4-5 week) study.
