3 credits 67.5 hours 200 level undergraduate course
This course provides an advanced and holistic approach to synthesizing technique and spontaneity. Students investigate methods of employing structure and choice of tactic to heighten dramatic conflict and personal presence onstage. Attention is also given to the actor’s physical world: how to engage in the physical life of the stage to reveal given circumstances and provides opportunity for effective, character-motivated staging. An increasingly wide range of playwrights and material are explored through monologue and scene study.
