CAT 201 Creative Arts Therapy Approaches with Diverse Populations

200 level undergraduate course

In this course, students deepen their knowledge of various approaches and techniques creative arts therapists use to connect with diverse populations in the community, including in trauma-informed settings. Modules in Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, Drama Therapy, and Poetry Therapy are presented by specialists in the field. Students are given the opportunity to practice these techniques in collaboration with their classmates, while exploring how their own creative processes may enhance a therapeutic exchange, mind-body connection, and overall wellness.

Prerequisites CAT*101 and CAT*102

Priority enrollment for Creative Arts Therapy minor students.
This course is not repeatable for credit.
This course can fulfill a critical studies elective or general elective requirement.
