Minor Advisor
Description
Students enrolled in the minor will study how to create, produce, record, edit, manipulate, and distribute audio and music for traditional and new media. These skills will be developed through specialized coursework and hands-on training. Study areas include audio recording, live sound, internet marketing, music business including legal aspects that influence the process and the distribution of the creative product, and a choice of technology and business elective courses.

Program Objectives
Students enrolled in the minor will…
- Understand the roles and relationships of the various components in the music industry
- Understand the role of performing rights organizations
- Understand the basics of copyright law and intellectual property
- Create, record, edit, and mix music and audio using high end production software
- Understand the basics of signal flow, and be able to operate a mixing console for both recording and live performance
- Create, record, and edit MIDI sequences
- Gain experience in the industry by completing an internship in technology or business
