Description

At the heart of the Fibers + Textiles Studies minor is thinking through making. Fibers students are passionate about working with their hands. By engaging with material and process they discover the ideas and concepts that underlie their art. Technical instruction is balanced with investigation of meaning and content. Work produced ranges from weaving/textiles to mixed-media to installation and experimental/new genres. Students experience personal control of all aspects of making, from initial design to final finished piece.

Students pursuing a BFA in Craft + Material Studies with a Fibers + Textile Studies concentration are not permitted to enroll in this minor.

FIBR 212 Color and the Loom Exploration 3 credits
FIBR 222 Constructed Surface Exploration 3 credits

Select two of the following:

FIBR 311 Fibers and Textile Studies Junior Studio I 3 credits
FIBR 312 Fibers and Textile Studies Junior Studio II 3 credits
FIBR 313 Fibers and Textile Studies Junior Projects 3 credits

Select one of the following:

FIBR 411 Fibers and Textile Studies Senior Thesis I 3 credits
FIBR 412 Fibers and Textile Studies Senior Thesis II 3 credits
