Return to: Departments
The Pre-certification Concentration in Art and Design Education is designed to permit a student majoring in an art or design field to use his or her undergraduate years as a key step toward certification (licensure) as a K-12 Art or Design teacher. Students who declare and complete the Pre-certification Concentration may be approved to do state-required student teaching in the year following their graduation with a BFA degree, and thus earn the license with a ninth semester of enrollment. Pre-certification Concentration students may also seek admission to the University’s Master of Arts in Teaching - Visual Arts program and be able normally to complete the master’s degree in three additional semesters.
