Book Arts Minor


This minor emphasizes the development of skills related to designing and creating books, incorporating both type and imagery. Instruction in image-making in multiples through printmaking processes, basic typesetting techniques, and introductory bookbinding methods are studied.

  • Fine Arts-Printmaking majors may not declare a Book Arts minor.
  • Students must meet eligibility requirements, which may include a satisfactory grade point average, prerequisites, and departmental portfolio review.
  • Intent to complete a minor is declared by filing the completed Minor Declaration Form with the Office of the Registrar. The forms are available on registrar.uarts.edu or in person at the Office of the Registrar.
  • Courses applied to the minor may only be applied towards elective requirements.
  • Generally, no substitutions to the minor requirements are allowed. The minor advisor may permit a substitution in exceptional situations.
  • The requirements of the minor must be completed prior to graduation.
  • Completing a minor may require a student to take more than the minimum number of credits necessary to achieve the undergraduate degree in order to also finish the concentration.
  • Minors are available only to undergraduate students.
